Malena is a young war widow living her life of solitude. She is the most beautiful woman in the town. Everyone in town had a lustful desire on her. From that point the story develops into something exceptional.

The story starts at a 13-year-old boy named Renato. We see Malena through his eyes. He was obsessed with her. He followed her everywhere and tried to stalk at her house even in the nights.

At first, the movie may look like full of erotic desires of Renato on Malena. But eventually, it turns into love that's mightier than everything other in this world.

He never tried to talk or do anything towards her. He just stalked. Eventually, she became one of the most important parts of his teenage life. There was not just lust, he also had respect towards her.

Malena was a strong woman, she tried to ignore society and lived strongly her life. There were times she got hurt by society. The women of the town hated her because of the men's deep desire towards her. They looked at her like some kind of a whore. These all hurt Renato's mind also.

Those were the times he realises his affection towards her. When we reach these scenes we also get more attracted to Malena. The Cinematography captures the beauty of Sicily along with that of Malena.

Malena is played by Monica Bellucci and she just made it divine. She was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

Renato wanted to save her from the eagle eyes of society. There were moments the woman of Sicily hurting her. They cut her hair for taking away her beauty. And she flees from the town. For little Renato that was heartbreaking.

His age was the restriction for him to save Malena from the bad world. But when her husband comes back after surviving the world war and tries to find her. Renato leaves a letter for him to find her with the name of the town she fled to. So finally she gets a normal life she deserved with her husband.

There is music from of the greatest Ennio Morricone in the background that blends us to the world of Malena and Renato. In the end, the movie becomes a story of Renato's lost love. There be will pain in our heart because of their separation. The music makes that feeling more close to the heart. It's also one of the reasons it became one of my favourite films.

There is an ending scene where Renato and Malena talk for the first time. Malena loses some fruits from her basket when she walks on the road, Renato comes and helps her in taking it back to the basket. And he says good luck, Then there is a smile in Malena's face. It's just one of the most beautiful moment of the movie. That smile touches every viewer's heart.

Then there is a scene Malena walking away and Renato pedalling his cycle in the opposite direction. Then he says to us those words,

"Time has passed, and I have loved many women. And as they've held me close... and asked if I will remember them I've said, "Yes, I will remember you." But the only one I've never forgotten is the one who never asked... Malena."
