Life's Balance Between Want & Need
I think being rational starts at the point of knowing the difference between want and need. It's always good to strive for needs, for a survivor it's essential. Most of the times we strive for is our wants.
I've seen my friends, putting his all effort restlessly in making money. He is exhausted all the time—thinking all the time. He looks like his whole life is based on it. When I ask him about this, he just says he needs a lot of money. There are no basic needs or even wants for him. It's just the money that all he wants.
I'm not saying that money isn't important, money is the thing that runs the world. But when you blindly follow the money—no amount will be enough for you, always wants more. It's good to save money and use that for the needs. But making that as the only aim, after some time when you look back there was no happiness, always the search.
It's just not only about money, before doing anything it's good always ask this question need or want? Cause we most probably buying things we don't need for just show off to the world or some materialistic pleasure.
We think all these as our free will, it's not free will—it's what the whole world wants you to be. They all marketing their product in such a way that to force you to buy that. From the beginning to the end we are in this loop—buying their products which they say we must need.
In the end, it's gonna be we are just some toys they played to make money, so there will be no change, it's hard to get out of this loop. After us, our next generation will also come here and live inside it.
"We are consumers. We're the by-products of a lifestyle obsession."
