Origin of Creativity
I've browsed hours in google for just a single idea to write about, Sometimes the mind is totally blank, there isn't a single thing which I can write about. Hours of browsing usually ends up in nothing, again stressing out to write something.
Most of the good articles I wrote always came from a thought that emerged within seconds. If I could find a pen and paper at that time I will be writing about 800 words in a stretch. It doesn't take any stress.
The best idea's not only for writing but for any creative work comes simply without not much of hard work. It's a subconscious thing. The articles I write with all the stress and pressure usually ends up bad and completing it always effort like a painful effort. It feels like something fake.
So I always wanted to write on these instant ideas, it's just something that's natural and a subconscious process. I can't simply try to come with that. Coming with that natural flow to create something is the origin of Creativity. The single idea that gives all the push to go forward without looking back.
I then started the search for how to be a natural writer? without being stressed out. Because when I was going with the flow I was loving the process. More than the rewards I was also excited about the process. If feels pleasure doing it, that's more valuable than any other thing.
Then I got some real answers to my question after the research, I think it was a screenwriter who said it. To find the single idea—the origin of creativity you just have to wait.
It's not like waiting and doing nothing,
He related it with fishing. You have set up a fishing rod with bait on the tip of it. Then put in the water and wait for the fish to come.
Just like that, collect good thoughts and ideas anything we see around, and set up the fishing rod. It's just only setting up, you have to put it in the water. So try to process these thoughts you have collected, like spending some real-time to think about it. Not about creating something but just analysing the idea and bookmark it in our mind.
I always keep a journal with me, to write these interesting thoughts and ideas. I think it's the only good habit I tried and worked out. It's like a seeding, it may not become a tree in one night, but it will be someday.
Usually, sources for collecting these ideas were books, movies and sometimes simply people around, by just observing them. Giving time to these ideas or baits, It will eventually catch a fish. When it catches you can feel it. It's time to give the right push and everything will be done simply with clarity. There will be no time to waste on thinking about it or looking back.
This's what I do to find ideas for my work, and it works pretty well. Everything starts with a little bit of patience. So when I don't have much to write, I usually observe the things happening around me. I knew these baits are the ones which are gonna help me to catch the big fish soon.
